The Harrison boys cross country team delivered a dominant performance Saturday at the Sagamore Conference Championships at Southmont High School, capturing both the varsity and JV team titles. The Raiders showcased their talent at the front of the races and the depth of the program throughout the lineup. Varsity Raiders Capture Conference Title Harrison put together an outstanding team performance, scoring just 26 points to claim the conference championship. The Raiders placed five runners in the top eight, demonstrating the strength of their pack against the conference field. Senior Jonathan King led the way with a third-place finish in 16:06.0, followed closely by junior Jacob Tilton in fourth at 16:11.0. Logan Breon continued the strong team effort with a fifth-place finish in 16:21.3, while senior Jango Lane placed sixth in 16:28.8. Junior Morgen Weathers rounded out the scoring five with an eighth-place finish in 16:35.1. The Raiders' top five finished within 30 seconds of one another, giving Harrison a powerful scoring group and putting five runners among the top eight finishers and finishing with all-conference honors. Ryan Jordan added a 13th-place finish in 16:59.9, followed by Alexander Burgess in 16th at 17:07.1. Their performances further demonstrated the depth of a Harrison team preparing for the upcoming state tournament series. JV Raiders Complete the Sweep The Harrison JV team matched the varsity squad's success, taking the team title with an impressive performance led by a one-two finish. Junior Stewart Page won the JV race in 16:54.8, followed by freshman Fernando Samayoa-Lopez in second at 17:01.8. David Estep finished third in 17:21.1, and Jonah Towers placed fourth in 17:43.6. Micah Cook completed Harrison's scoring five with a seventh-place finish in 18:03.2. The Raiders continued to fill the results with strong performances from Liam Richards (eighth, 18:09.0), Eamon DeWitt (ninth, 18:11.5), Colton Derflinger (10th, 18:15.3), and Josiah Suiter (11th, 18:19.2). Harrison also placed Ollie Milner and Sebastian Karns 12th and 13th, respectively. Having four runners finish in the top four and five in the top seven highlighted the strength of Harrison's developing runners and the depth supporting the varsity team. Momentum Heading Into the Postseason Winning both team championships was an excellent way for Harrison to close out the conference portion of the season. The varsity team's tightly grouped scoring five and the JV squad's outstanding front pack demonstrated the work the athletes have put in throughout the year. With the IHSAA state tournament approaching, the Raiders will look to carry that momentum into the postseason. The Sagamore Conference Championships provided another opportunity to compete, build confidence, and show the strength of the Harrison boys' cross-country program.
