The Raiders started off the aggressors in this highly anticipated matchup against the Jeff Bronchos to see who would advance to Saturday's Sectional 7 Championship game. The Raiders set the tone by controlling a bulk of the possession and chances. With just 14 minutes expired in the contest, Russ Weaver advanced the ball with pace down the left flank beating defenders, entering the penalty box, and lacing a ball hard and low across toward the penalty spot. Simon Ailor pushed through the central part of the pitch, approached Russ's pass, and slammed the ball into the back of the net with a thunderous shot. The Raiders took an early 1-0 advantage. Several chances would come the rest of the half, but the Raiders couldn't expand the lead. After the intermission, the Raiders came out on fire immediately. Once again it was Ailor! Ailor found a small crease in the defense and navigated through 3 different defenders and once again made good on his opportunity! Simon lasered a ball past the keeper into the left side netting giving the Raiders a commanding 2-0 lead. The Bronchos were able to score a late goal with under 2 minutes to play, but the result and outcome would hold for the Raiders! 2-1 victors and places them in their 6th sectional championship in as many years. The Raiders will play Lebanon on Saturday night at Ellison Field at 6pm. The Raiders move their record to 10-5-3 on the season and look to capture their 6th straight sectional title on Saturday.
