The Harrison boys cross country team continued to build momentum toward the postseason Saturday morning, finishing second at its own Harrison Invite at the Tippecanoe Amphitheater. Harrison scored 64 points, finishing behind Penn High School, which won the team competition with 45 points. Bloomington South placed third with 106 points. The Raiders were led by junior Jacob Tilton, who turned in another outstanding performance, finishing fourth overall in 15:59. Senior Jonathan King followed closely behind in ninth at 16:22, while junior Logan Breon crossed the line 14th in 16:38. Harrison's fourth and fifth runners were senior Jango Lane, who finished 18th in 16:56, and junior Morgan Weathers, who placed 21st in 17:09. The Raiders' five-man average was an impressive 16:36.8. The team battle with Penn provided a valuable test for Harrison. Penn placed seven runners among the top 16 finishers, demonstrating the depth that allowed the Kingsmen to score 45 points. Harrison, however, placed four runners in the top 18 and continued to show that it has the front-end talent and depth necessary to compete with some of the state's strongest programs. Sophomore Ryan Jordan added another strong performance for Harrison, finishing 37th overall in 17:35, while senior David Estep ran 17:44 to finish 45th. The Raiders also showed considerable depth in the junior varsity race. Harrison finished second to Penn with 49 points, with its first five runners averaging 18:06.4. Junior Stewart Page led the Harrison JV squad with an impressive 17:26, winning the JV race. Liam Richards followed in 18:01, Jonah Towers in 18:11, Liam Findlay in 18:19 and Micah Cook in 18:35. The depth continued throughout the Harrison roster, with Zach Havel running 18:49, Ethan Roll 19:05, Josiah Suiter 19:07 and several more Raiders finishing under 20 minutes. For Harrison, Saturday's meet was more than simply a second-place finish. With the state tournament approaching, the Raiders are continuing to develop a strong front five while having several runners capable of challenging for varsity positions. The Harrison boys will now turn their attention toward the final stretch of the regular season, with the goal of using the depth and experience gained throughout the season to make a strong postseason push.
